Ecosystem & EVO Host Licensing Frequently Asked Questions

Ecosystem & EVO Host Licensing Frequently Asked Questions

Document Date: November 2023
Document Supports: da Vinci 10.4 and Higher

This document answers common questions about the new Ecosystem & EVO Host licensing platform. For additional questions on Savant Subscriptions, refer to the Knowledge Base article: Savant Subscriptions Frequently Asked Questions on the Savant Customer Community.

  1. Q: I have many projects waiting to upgrade for da Vinci 10.4; if I upgrade these projects to 10.4, will the Hosts lose capacity? Should I advise my clients not to upgrade?
A: No. When a Home is upgraded to da Vinci 10.4, the Host will not lose capacity nor will it convert to an Ecosystem / EVO Host. The Host will retain its current capacity limitations.

User-added image IMPORTANT NOTE! All restrictions are based on the primary runtime license (or hardware for embedded Hosts). Refer to the da Vinci 10.4 Release ReadMe on the Savant Customer Community to learn about all the new 10.4 features.
  2. Q: Does the new Ecosystem and EVO Host Software model impact any existing deployed systems or projects my team is commissioning now?
A: No. All Savant Hosts / Operating System Licenses previously purchased will retain their base capacity limitations, including 3rd party integration, lighting, and entertainment zones.

  3. Q: What is the difference between Ecosystem & EVO software licenses?
A: Ecosystem software licenses are used for licensing Smart Hosts with Control. Savant EVO software licenses are designed for Apple Mac M2 products. Additionally, EVO software licensing allows for custom configuration, matching the hardware and software needs of each project, all with the stability and scalability of the Mac platform.

  4. Q: Are new Ecosystem and EVO software licenses compatible with the Savant Essentials subscription? If so, are there any changes to the subscription model?
A: Yes, all Savant systems can unlock additional features with an Essentials subscription. Any new Ecosystem Hosts and Mac Hosts licensed with an EVO Core or Unlimited license will require an active Essentials subscription to make configuration changes.
User-added image Helpful! When signing up in SCM, it will automatically select the correct license. When purchasing one-year subscriptions on the Savant store, you will find an associated subscription for every Host license in SCM.

  5. Q: What is required to deploy a Host with the Ecosystem or EVO Runtime license?
A: Hosts deployed with the Ecosystem or EVO Runtime license must also have an active Essentials Subscription to deploy and upload a configuration.

  6. How do dealers purchase Essentials subscriptions for non-Ecosystem / EVO Hosts if only Ecosystem / EVO Essentials subscriptions are available on the Savant Store?
A: Non-Ecosystem / EVO Essentials subscriptions can be purchased/subscribed per home via the Subscriptions tab in Savant Central Management. For more information, refer to the Savant Central Management - Jobs & Homes article on the Savant Customer Community.

  7. Q: What is an Original Licensed Host?
A: An "Original Licensed Host" is a term used to distinguish a deployed Host not utilizing an Ecosystem or EVO license.
Example: An SHR-2000 with an OSL-SMRT10-00 runtime license.

  8. Q: What will occur if I upload a configuration with 3rd party LMQ or lighting services to the Host? Will Blueprint or System Monitor indicate that a 3rd Party Feature License is needed?
A: System Monitor will display a popup indicating that you cannot upload the configuration without an appropriate license.

  9. Q: Is the Smart Premium Add-on License still available to purchase for Smart Hosts with Control?
A: The Smart Premium license is no longer available on the Savant Store, but unused licenses can still be applied to non-Ecosystem Smart Host with Control.

  10. Q: Can a new SHR-2000 running 10.4 utilizing a 3rd party AV switch to more than three zones use the Ecosystem Runtime license?
    A
: No, Smart Hosts using an Ecosystem runtime license will not support that many zones with a 3rd party AV switch. For new jobs, this would require a Mac M2 Host with an EVO Core or EVO Unlimited runtime license.

NOTE: Alternatively, the SHR-2000 will still support this configuration using the Original Smart runtime license (OSL-SMRT10) plus the Smart Premium license (OSL-SMRTPREM) during initial deployment.

  11. The Savant Store indicates that the SVR-5300S Pro Hosts can still utilize the OSL-PRO10 license. Does that mean it is not required to purchase EVO Feature licenses to get the same features on a non-EVO licensed Pro Host?
A: While the OSL-PRO10 is no longer available for purchase, unused OSL-PRO10 licenses can be applied to SVR-5300S Hosts running 10.x during initial deployment and will have features available as outlined in the Host Feature Support Matrix knowledge article on Savant Customer Community.

  12. Q: My company has contracted projects dependent on the Original Licensing pricing model. What can I do?
A: As of August 31, 2023, Original Smart & Pro Host licenses are no longer available on the Savant Store. Contact your Technical Sales Manager for additional support.
  13. Q: Are there differences in purchasing Essentials Subscriptions in Savant Central Management vs. the Savant Store?
A: Subscriptions can be purchased in both places, but there are differences:
    • Savant Store: Subscriptions purchased in the Savant Store are annual subscriptions. They automatically expire after one year and can be "stacked" up to 5 years.
    • Savant Central Management: Subscriptions purchased in the Savant Store automatically renew each year using the credit card information on file. For each initial subscription purchased via Savant Central Management, an additional 90-day installation grace period is automatically added.
  14. Q: Will the S2, HST-STUDIO46BG-2CH-00, and HST-STUDIO55BG-2CH-00 Hosts be part of the Ecosystem Host model?
A: No, these Hosts will not be coming to the Ecosystem Host model. Savant will focus on the Smart Audio WiSa Soundbars and the IP Audio 1 in Host mode for smaller projects.
  15. Q: Does my client need to purchase the new 3rd Party Lighting Feature License and the Lutron LEAP Advanced Integration Bridge for Lutron LEAP integration separately?
A: No, Savant has launched 3rd Party Lighting Feature License packages on the Savant Store that include the Lutron LEAP Advanced Integration Bridge at no cost (PKG-LEAPWL-CORE and PKG-LEAPWL-UNLIMITED).
